Slander and Lies against @Emma4Change

Emma Gonzalez, the magnificent young woman who spoke so eloquently at yesterday’s March, recently appeared in Teen Vogue. A photo of her tearing up a target appeared in the article.

As the March for Our Lives was underway, a digitally altered photo started circulating on social media. Instead of tearing up a target, Ms. Gonzales is tearing up the Constitution.

This is exactly the kind of manipulation that Russian bots used to influence voters in the 2016 election. The kind of manipulation that Russian bots used to divide us.

We exist in a culture of lying, where even the President of States lies to us on a constant basis. And he gets away with it because his followers WANT to believe those lies, no matter how ridiculous they are. And then they tune in to FOX NEWS to reinforce those lies, and hear the latest propaganda.

Lies. Hatred. Manipulation. That’s not the worst part of it. These people are of such low quality that they think nothing of defaming a teenage victim just because they disagree with her.

One Republican politician from Maine, called her a “skinhead lesbian” because of her opposition to the NRA. An aide to a Florida state Representative labeled her a “crisis actor,” which has been echoed by Donald Trump Jr. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) mocked her for wearing a Cuban flag on her jacket, insinuating she was a communist who supported an “anti-gun regime.” Ms. Gonzalez is Cuban, whose father immigrated to New York from Cuba in 1968.

These are supposed to be the adults, but they’re not. They’re high school bullies, but they’ve met their match. Emma Gonzalez and the other students of Stoneman Douglas are not afraid of these bullies, because they survived a far greater threat on February 14, 2018.
